Funeral services for Arneada Beck of Harvey, Ill., native of Grenada, were Saturday, Dec. 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Burning Bush M.B. Church with burial in Haven Rest Cemetery.
Ms. Beck, 70, died Dec. 2, 2018. She was born on Jan. 9, 1948, and was a member of the Carrie Dotson High School Class of 1967. Ms. Beck was employed with Jewel Food Stores in Chicago and enjoyed gardening, potting plants, and poetry. Ms. Beck was affiliated with Valley Kingdom Ministries in Chicago, Tephillah Ministry Bereavement Team, Healing Ministry, Ministerial Staff and Prayer Team.
Ms. Beck is survived by her father Alex Beck of Grenada; seven sisters, Gloria Muhammed and Stella Beck, both of Chicago; Margaret Beck, Ruby McBride, Mary Ann Mitchell and Fontenna Clay, all of Grenada; and Patricia Muhammad of South Holland, Ill.; and four brothers, Matthew Beck, Jarrah Beck, and Kevin Ellis, all of Grenada; and Alexander Robinson of Duck Hill.

John Amos Bennett

Mr. John Amos Bennett, 74, of Duck Hill, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at his residence.
He was born June 10, 1944, in Winona to Oscar and Effie Brunt Bennett. He was a member, Deacon and Men’s Sunday School Teacher at Duck Hill Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator of B&L Service Center, former Fire Chief of Duck Hill, president of Mean Green Pulling Team and board member of Dixie Iron Tractor Club.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Duck Hill Baptist Church and interment will follow in the Duck Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Survivors include his wife Linda Bennett of Duck Hill; two daughters, Kim Rice (Mike) of Duck Hill and Jeanne Nation (Paul) of Phoenix, Ariz..; one sister Carolyn Lott of Grenada and six grandchildren, Josh, Jason and Kaylee Rice and Stephanie, David and Sarah Nation.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Josh Rice, Jason Rice, David Nation, Robert Boyette, Ben Box and Dennis Huff.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Mean Green Pulling Team Members and members of the Men’s Sunday School Class at Duck Hill Baptist Church.

Dallie Monique Davis

Miss Dallie Monique Davis, 38, of Hernando, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2018. at Baptist Memorial Hospita-DeSoto in Southaven.
Dallie was born Feb. 4, 1980, in Greenwood to the late Gaye Monique Garrett and Dennis Aaron Davis. She graduated as Valedictorian from Maranatha Christian Academy and attended Holmes Community College in Grenada receiving an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences.
She was also preceded in death by her grandfather Jim Eli Garrett Jr. and uncle Jim Eli Garrett, III.
Survivors include her brother, Andrew Garrett Jenkins of Scobey; sister, Ashley Davis Novak of Virginia; grandmother Dallygene Bailey Reeves of Owensboro, Ky.; great-grandmother Martha Goodson Clark of Owensboro, Ky.; aunt, Mignon Clark Backstrom of Owensboro, Ky.; cousin Jackson Eli Garrett of Memphis and a special friend and companion, Larry Brian Long of Memphis.
A visitation will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service. Graveside services will immediately follow at the Holcomb Cemetery, led by the Rev. Kevin Tribble.

Joe L. Downs Jr.

(June 12, 1925 – Dec. 11, 2018) Funeral services for Mr. Joe L. Downs Jr. of Carrollton will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church near Carrollton, with burial following in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Duane Jensen will officiate the services. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 14, from 5 until 7 p.m., at Lee Funeral Home.
Mr. Downs, 93, died at Grenada Living Center in Grenada on Tuesday, Dec. 11. He was born on June 12, 1925, in Carroll County to Joe L. and Rosie Lee Wiltshire Downs. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church,where he served as a deacon for over 60 years. Mr. Downs was preceded in death by his parents; son Johnny Downs; sister Josie Downs; and three brothers, Jack Downs, John W. Downs, and George H. Downs.
Mr. Downs is survived by his wife Vera Hopper Downs; daughters, Linda Downs Flemmons and Joyce Downs Vickers; sons, George Downs and Jimmy Downs; sister, Elsie Morrison; brothers, Dan Downs, Robert “Bob” Downs, and Henry “Buck” Downs;10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Josh Downs, Jonathan Downs, Jacob Carson, Aiden Farmer, Mason Shelton, Lance Easley, Dylan Black, and Brad Vickers. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Flemmons, Luke Goodnight, Brayden Downs, Peyton Easley, Gavin Vickers, Allen Farmer, Garrett Vickers, and Eathon Shelton.

Mrs. Collins-Swain, 69, died Dec. 8, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was born on April 6, 1949. Mrs. Collins-Swain loved to make things.
Mrs. Collins-Swain is survived by her husband Mitchelle Swain; sister Luberta Miller of Chicago; and aunt and uncle, Wonzo and Ola Mae Bowdry of Grenada.

James Tucker

A graveside service fo James “Bobo” Tucker of Kilmichael will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, at the Bethany Church of God Cemetery near Poplar Creek.
Visitation will be at Oliver Funeral Home on Friday from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m.
Mr. Tucker, 70, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Ackerman Nursing Home. He was born on Oct. 30, 1948, to Harold Edgar and Mattie Louise Green Tucker. He was a disabled roofer and a member of Bethany Church of God. Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Shirley Tucker and Eugene Tucker.
Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife Bonita Tucker of Kilmichael; three daughters, Brandy Moss of Ackerman, Angie Tucker Corley of Kilmichael, and Lisa Tucker of Kilmichael; two sons, Charles Tucker of Kilmichael and Jamie Tucker of Duck Hill; three sisters, Carolyn Randle of Greenwood, Kaffie Burns-Denley of Shaw, and Brenda L. Henson of Winona; four brothers, Larry Tucker of Vaiden, Frank Tucker of Vaiden, Darrell Tucker of Brandon, and Daniel Tucker of Booneville; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
