Frances Hamby Mitchell
Graveside services for Frances Hamby Mitchell, 86, of Grenada, were Sunday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada.
Mrs. Mitchell died Nov. 16, 2018, at the Grenada Health and Rehab Center. She was born on Oct. 12, 1932, in Slate Springs and was the daughter of the late John Ed Hamby and Lela Mae Wright Hamby.
Frances worked as a nurse until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grenada.
Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William Guy Mitchell; two sisters, Katie Mae Barbee and Rubie Lee Reeves; one brother, James Edward Hamby.
She is survived by four nieces, Etta Washington (Allan) of Tupelo, Juanita Gray (Graham) of Brandon, Jean Strong (Robert) of Crystal Springs, and Jessie Lewis of Memphis; one nephew, Leslie Reeves (Jean) of Grenada; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Shelby Simmons Pigg
Mrs. Shelby Jean Simmons Pigg, 73, of Coldwater, a long-time resident of Grenada, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at her residence.
She was born March 31, 1945, in Grenada to Thomas J. and Agnes Woods Simmons. She had worked for many years as a clerk at Knights Inn.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada. Interment will follow in the Grenada Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends from noon until service time Sunday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include one daughter Kim Melton (Jerry) of Coldwater; four sons, Bobby Gene Avery (Janice) of Grenada, Dewey Avery (Viki) of Grenada, Harold Pigg Jr. (Sandy) of Holcomb and Terry Pigg (Myra) of Holcomb; four sisters, Phyllis Durham and Edna Cole, both of Grenada; Frankie Tartt of Oakland and Deborah Littlefield of Canton; three brothers, Thomas Simmons and Eddie Johnson, both of Grenada; and Ben Simmons of Batesville; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold Pigg, sister Nancy Carroll and a brother Jerry Simmons.

Funeral services for Donna Prather, 70, of Duck Hill are at 2 p.m on Friday, Nov. 23, at the Hope Mountain Chapel near Duck Hill, with burial following in Alva Parker Cemetery at Alva.
Visitation is Friday, from noon until service time at Hope Mountain Chapel.
Mrs. Prather died at her residence on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018. She was born Jan. 8, 1948, to Robert L. and Katherine Rowland Teasley. She was a missionary and educator at the Hope Christian Home and Academy near Duck Hill.
Mrs. Prather is siurvived by her husband Jimmy Prather of Duck Hill and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Elizabeth Louise Brown Schmidt, 70, of Live Oak, Fla., formerly of Holcomb, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018. at the University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service. Interment will follow in the Sparta Cemetery near Holcomb.
Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Saturday at McKibben and Guinn.
