Convicted killer up for parole

A Calhoun County man, sentenced to death for the murder of convenience store worker 27 years ago, could be paroled next month.
Frederick Bell, now 46, could be paroled after being convicted for the 1991 murder of Bert Bell of Grenada during a robbery at Sparks Stop ’N Go on Caderetta Road.  The two are not related.
District Attorney Doug Evans said it is not certain that Bell will be paroled, but the fact that his case is coming before the parole board is unfortunate.
“It’s just a nightmare for the victim’s family,” Evans said.
