One man has been arrested following a string of burglaries in South Grenada County in the Elliott area.
A man identified by Grenada County Investigator Josh Dale as Cedric Terry, 33, of Greenwood was arrested Tuesday night following the investigation of several home burglaries.
According to Dale, Terry is charged with five counts of burglary of a dwelling and house breaking and entering.
According to Dale, the burglaries reported to the sheriff’s department occurred on Perry Road, Highway 51 South, McCormick Road and the Barnside Road area all in the Elliott area.
Dale said Terry was arrested after the deputies recovered home surveillance footage during the preliminary investigation.
“Right now we’re putting our leads together, all together we’re looking at about six or seven of these burglaries,” Dale said.
Dale said that in the break-ins one or more burglars made off with jewelry, guns, money, electronics such as televisions and computers, along with other valuable items. He said the cumulative totals of all the merchandise is valued at several thousands of dollars.
“We’re still deep into the investigation and we will likely have another arrest soon,” Dale said. “We’re getting help from the Grenada Police Department and the Kemper County Sheriff’s Department.”
