Employee seriously injured in switching yard accident

Staff Writer

A railroad mishap left one Grenada man in serious condition after he became trapped between two rail cars.
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon when the man, identified by authorities as Kennon Lollar, 21, was trapped in Grenada’s North Rail Yard off Highway 332.
First responders with the Grenada Police Department, the Grenada Fire Department and the University of Mississippi Medical Center Ambulance Service worked at a fast pace during 90 degree weather to pull Lollar from the two cars.
According to the police department’s incident report, officers responded to the call of a person stuck between the rail cars.
When the first responding officer arrived at the Dunham Inc., property, she was informed by an employee there that she did not know anything was going on. (Dunham is located adjacent to the big railroad switching yard.)
