One of the biggest concerns for Kirk Coach Ken Chandler was the ability of Carroll Academy to be a bruising, physical team that cane come right at you.
His fears were realized as Carroll scored 27 unanswered points and cruise to a 33-7 win Friday at Carrollton.
The Rebels finished with 410 yards of offense compared to 194 for Kirk. Carroll rushed for 369 yards on the night.
With the loss, Kirk drops to 1-2 on the season. Carroll is now 3-0.
Trailing 6-0, Kirk put together a scoring drive that ended on a 20-yard scoring from from Quintin Ballard. Cole Dungan’s PAT made it 7-6 with 7:42 left in the third period.
Kirk quarterback Alex McDurmon finished the night 13-24 for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
Ballard was the leading rusher with 44 yards on six carries.
The Raiders continue their four game road trip to open the season with a trip to Holly Springs to face Marshall Academy.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
