The Grenada Police Department is investigating the death of a Grenada man in what officers are calling an unfortunate accident.
A man identified as Joe Wilson, age unknown, of Grenada, was pronounced dead at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada after he was discovered lying underneath a car Friday morning.
The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Mound Street and the Sunset Drive Frontage Road.
“Right now, it looks likes a freak accident,” Capt. Joey Merriman said. “Witnesses say they saw a man working on a car, and minutes later we got the call that a car had fallen on someone near Catfish Corner.”
According to one witness, he saw what appeared to be a man working underneath a vehicle, and when he made a closer look, he decided to turn around.
