Raiders look for improvement at Columbus Christian

It is a well-documented fact that the Kirk Academy football program has struggled for years.
So, when the Raiders opened the season with a 35-7 loss at Heritage Academy, first-year Head Coach Ken Chandler decided to take a different approach.
During film room work this week, the veteran coach decided to talk about the positives from the game first. Then, they would talk about the mistakes.
“These kids have been beaten down for so long with the struggles of the program,” Chandler said. “We wanted to talk and show the positives first. Then, use the mistakes as a teaching moment, showing them on film. I just think we are further along this season than last.”
Kirk held Heritage to less than 120 yards on the ground. The problems came through the air. HA quarterback Carter Putt threw for better than 200 yards and four touchdowns.
