The board of Directors of the Grenada County Chamber of Commence took a giant step toward progress at their monthly meeting this morning.
The board unanimously voted to merge with the Greater Grenada Foundation for Economic Development, parent organization of the Grenada Economic Development District.
“This move will allow more resources to be put toward economic, retail, and community development,” Chamber Pres. Steve Gard said after the Tuesday morning meeting. “It will allow the chamber to grow and become an even stronger player in the retail development and future progress of the Grenada area.
Matthew Harrison, Executive Director of the Grenada County Economic Development Distrtict said, “The Greater Grenada Foundation for Economic Development is excited about the future possibilities that this consolidation represents. The GGFED and the Chamber’s mission have always been to impact our community through job growth and sustainability. We now have the opportunity to utilize our resources and leadership to develop a singularly focused organization that is committed to Grenada’s community economic development.”
Gary Worsham, Executive Director of the Grenada Tourism Commission said, “With this new arrangement we can reap benefits we can’t even imagine.”
“It is a sign of unity, and I am excited about the future of Grenada,” he added.
