Marianne Paula Felker

Funeral services for Marianne Paula Felker, 89, of Grenada, are at 11 a.m., Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada. Burial will follow in the Duck Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Felker died Aug. 11, 2018, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
She was born on Oct. 21, 1928, in Karlstad, Sudenland, Germany, and was the daughter of the late Johann Knoblich and Hermine Blaschke Knoblich. She married Paul Guy Felker  in 1969 and moved to Duck Hill. Marianne was a naturalized citizen since May 1, 1981, and she was a devout Christian. She lived in Duck Hill until 1992 when she moved to Grenada where she lived until her health began to decline in 2018.
Mrs. Felker was employed by R & S Cleaners as a check-in clerk for many years. She was a member Emmanuel Baptist Church. Marianne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her church and her family. She loved to crochet and knit afghans and baby blankets. She enjoyed traveling to Germany, Florida and Colorado to visit her family. To her children and grandchildren, she was famous for her potato salad and German cookies.
Mrs. Felker was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Frieda Schebeska and Hermi Amling; one son Ginutis Zurauskas; and two grandchildren, Mica Danielle Mitchell and Richard Ingram Felker.
She is survived by four daughters, Birute James of Denver, Colo., Verute Peterson of Tupelo, Sharon Jackson of Duck Hill and Denise Ramos of San Antonio, Texas; three sons, John Felker of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Mike Felker of Duck Hill and Paul Guy Felker Jr. of Lake Charles, La.; one sister Lisi Baumeister of Gunzburg, Germany; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Unit or to the Emmanuel Baptist Church Senior Ministries.

Doris Roark Furniss

Doris Evelyn Roark Furniss died Tuesday, July 24, 2018
Mrs. Furniss was born on Dec. 24, 1938, in Rena Lara, Miss., to Belford and Mary Sue Roark.
She was a devoted Christian mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Before she retired, she held many positions with JCPenney, including sales associate, department supervisor, and office manager.
Mrs. Furniss was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Jonathan Quitman “Buck” Roark, Francis Marion Roark, Mary Opal Roark Fletcher, Homer Barrett Roark, Jewel Etoy Roark Morris, Imogene Roark Furniss, Hazel Lorene Roark Clements, Wilma Viola Roark, Edith Lynn Roark Furniss, Margaret Janean Roark Allen, Gary Wayne Roark, her son-in-law Steven Wayne Allen, and her granddaughter Lauren Ashley Furniss.
She is survived by her husband former Sen. Vernon Delma Furniss of Rena Lara; her children, Cynthia Darlene Furniss Allen of Holcomb; Randall Glenn “Buddy” Furniss of Rena Lara and Sharon Ranee Furniss Looney of Southaven; sister Glenda Marie Roark Smith of Lake Cormorant; brother Ronald Ray Roark of Sarah;  She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Furniss was a lifelong member of Rena Lara Baptist Church.  She loved spending time with her family and friends, and she thought nothing was better than grandchildren, except great-grandchildren.
Services were July 27 at Rena Lara Baptist Church.  Interment was at Memorial Gardens in Clarksdale.

Danny Ray Hill

Danny Ray Hill, 66, a retired Captain of Investigations at Clarksdale Police Department, died Aug. 14, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday Aug. 17, at Clarksdale Baptist Church, where he was a member. He was also a member of the Mississippi Police Benevolent Association.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years Barbara Williams Hill of Tillatoba; sons, Brancy Moody of Tillatoba and Brian Hill of Olive Branch; brother Earl Hill III of Clarksdale; two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Hill Jr. (Buddy) and Irene Tribble Hill.

Ralph T. Johnson

Ralph T. Johnson, 67, of Grenada died Aug. 10, 2018, at the UMMC Grenada.
Funeral services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Battle Temple COGIC Church in Grenada. Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until funeral time at the church Saturday.

Charles C. Smith, 69, of Grenada died Aug. 10, 2018, at the Tri-Lakes Hospital in Batesville.
Funeral services are Saturday at 3 p.m. at the New Life Church with burial in the Haven Rest Cemetery  in Grenada.
Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 2 p.m. until funeral time at the church Saturday.

Jack Speir of Grenada died Aug. 15, 2018. in Grenada.

Brenda K. Melton Wise

Funeral services for Brenda K. Melton Wise of Roseville, Calif., native of Grenada, are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Burning Bush M. B. Church.
Mrs. Wise died Aug. 6, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Jessie and Josie Melton of Grenada and was a member of the Grenada High School Class of 1977.

Mary Loerker Worley, 67, of Grenada died Aug. 15, 2018, at her residence.
