Heading into the 2018 season, the Grenada High School slow pitch softball team had high expectations with the return of all but one starter.
Still, you never know how a season might play out.
The Lady Chargers put this year’s team on display at the Eupora Invitational taking on New Hope and Kosciusko.
In the opener, GHS fell behind 3-0 after one inning. A four-run second was the difference in a 9-5 win. Game 2 saw a six-run second break open a close game in a 7-1 victory against Kosciusko.
All-in-all, it was a solid start to the season.
“I thought we came out and hit the ball well,” Coach Leslie Lancaster said. “We have been working hard to hit the ball the other way, and I thought, for the most part, we did a good job doing that. Defensively, we were solid.”
