Marvin L. Ards

Funeral services for Marvin L. Ards of Grenada are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Abundant Life Assembly of the Apostolic Faith Church with burial in Haven Rest Cemetery.
Mr. Ards, 68, died of natural causes at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford on Aug. 3, 2018. He was born on Sept. 9, 1949. Mr. Ards enjoyed fishing, cooking, and hosting his family reunions, as he did for 25 years.
Mr. Ards is survived by his wife Octavia Ards of Grenada; six daughters, Twyla Boyd of Houston, Texas, Monique Winters-Jones of Cordova, Tenn., Shameka Tellis of Enid, Arnetta Winters-Hollis of McKinney, Texas, Samantha Ards-Wilson of Greenwood and Katrina F. Ards of Grenada; five sons, Charles Lenard Winters of Crossroads, Texas, Maurice Winters of Dallas, Marvin Ards Jr. of Tillatoba, Jasper Winters of Waterloo, Iowa, and Josiah Ards of Grenada; six sisters, Letha Kelly and Cebelle Shaw of Marks; Doris Powell of Crowder, Emma Lawrence of Milwaukee, Annie Griffin of Memphis and Betty Johnson of Enid; two brothers, Andrew Ards of Grenada and Jessie Ards of Milwaukee; a special cousin Andrew Cooper of Ohio.

Mary Moore Green

Mary Moore Green, 56, of Brandon, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018 at a local hospital.
Funeral services are Friday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. at Oakland United Methodist Church with visitation starting at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Oakland United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Green was born in Oakland on Feb. 24, 1962. She was a bookkeeper. She was preceded in death by her father Walter Moore, and brothers, Lee Moore and Kevin Moore.
She is survived by her husband Stan Green; daughter Ryley Green; mother Mary Bell Moore; siblings Walter Moore, Edward Moore and Ruth Davis; a host of other relatives and friends.

Felix Ladell Herring

Felix Ladell Herring, 76, of Picayune, died at his home on July 21, 2018.
Prior to college, Felix was an air traffic controller for the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam. When Felix was a young man, he was one of the first to barefoot waterski. He also found joy in playing football, baseball and track. He was also a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He studied at The University of Miami, where he received his Bachelor degree in finance.
As he got older he enjoyed golfing, cooking “Mustard Charlie,” reading and spending time with his nieces and nephews. Felix retired working with his brother Dubas a general manager of Paw Paw’s Campers & RVs.
Felix was a loving husband to Irene M. Herring, a devoted father to Christine Herring-Cressey and James E. Herring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Inez Taylor Herring and William Bruce Herring; and his sisters, Sue Parks and Alice Andrews.
He was a role model for his grandchildren, Andrew S. Martinez, Victoria K. Martinez, Samantha G. Woodward, Rebecca L. Woodward and Jacob J. F. Herring. He was a caring father-in-law to Warren A. Cressey II and Christine N. Herring. Felix also left behind his brother, William Bruce (Dub) Herring II; and his sisters, Ada King and Floyce Rose, and his grandchildren.
Services were July 26, at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Biloxi. Burial with military honors was. at the Biloxi National Cemetery.

William Earl Jones

Funeral services for William Earl Jones of Grenada are Saturday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Jackson Chapel M.B. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Jones was born on April 4, 1962. He was a proud military veteran, having served five years of active duty in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Jackson Chapel M.B. Church.
Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his late father Marshall Devine Jones.
He is survived by his mother Clote Haymon Jones, two sisters, Dorothy Jean Williams of San Antonio and Vonda Kay Jones of Grenada; four brothers, Marshall Devine Jones Jr., Anthony Jones, Robert Earl Jones and Christopher Jones; a host of relatives and friends.

Samantha Woodall

Funeral services for Samantha Woodall of Grenada, formerly of Duck Hill, are Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Life Christian Fellowship Church with burial in Guest Cemetery in Oakland.
Ms. Woodall, 45, died of natural causes in Oxford on Aug. 1, 2018. She was born on Oct. 23, 1972.
Ms. Woodall is survived by her husband Barry Torrance of Coffeeville; four daughters, Eva Woodall, Alexia Woodall, Mykala Woodall and Ayanna Berry, all of Grenada; three sons, Eddie Woodall, Joe Holloway Jr. and Kelvin Mohead, all of Grenada; and four sisters, Claudia Carter and Sherrian Williams, both of Pontiac, Mich., and Sheila Woodall and Nina Jolliff, both of Grenada.
