Two all-star teams from Grenada Parks and Recreation saw their seasons come to an end this week at the Dizzy Dean World Series at Snowden Grove Park in Southaven.
The 14-year old squad dropped a 9-5 decision to Greenville to get eliminated from further play.
In 11-year old action, the GPR squad won their portion of the consolation bracket. They downed Olive Branch 18-4 and Greenville 7-3 to win that portion of the bracket.
“We just didn’t hit the ball in key situations,” Coach Rod Washington said. “Two times, we got the bases load and couldn’t get the big hit.”
Jaylon Mathis and Rashad Taylor were the offensive standouts. Jaheim Shack, Trey Parker and Danaris Robinson had an outstanding defensive game.
