Charles William Whitfield
Funeral services for Charles William Whitfield, 79, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Grenada, are at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 9, at the Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Elliott Baptist Church Cemetery at Elliott,.
Visitation is Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mortimer National Funeral Home.
Mr. Whitfield died June 6, 2018, at the VA Medical Center in Nashville.
He was born on Sept. 20, 1938, in Prentiss County, Miss, and was the son of the late Paul Lee Whitfield and Ocie Jones Whitfield.
Charles was employed for 21 years by McRee Southern Farms as a plant manager. He also worked for Walmart as a manager in the milk department. He was a member of the Elliott Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Whitfield was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was an awesome papaw and loved his family.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; one son Charles Terry Whitfield; two sisters, Nell and Opal; and two brothers, Gordon and Tommy.
He is survived by his wife Faye Lancaster Whitfield of Murfreesboro; one granddaughter Kristen Brooke (Michael) Potts and one great-grandson Kaden Tyler Potts.
Memorials may be made to the Elliott Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to the donor’s choice of charity.
