Joseph Ben ‘Jack’ Carter

Graveside services for Joseph Ben “Jack” Carter, 98, of Grenada, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 1, at Unity Cemetery near Crossett, Ark., under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
A remembrance service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the First Church of God.
Mr. Carter died Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Providence Assisted Living. He was born on April 25, 1920, in Ashley County, Ark., and was the son of the late Ruben Joseph Carter and Annie B. McCoy Carter.
Jack was a clock builder and was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC). He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Joan Carter and one daughter.
He is survived by daughter Mary Ann Greco of Geneva, N.Y.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Gary Wayne Clark

Mr. Gary Wayne Clark, 60, of Grenada, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018, at the Tallahatchie General Hospital in Charleston.
He was born May 19, 1958 in El Paso, Texas, to John Wayne and Annie Bell Gentry Clark. Gary was employed with U.S. Cattle Corporation and GT&Y Water Association for many years. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and the Geeslin Corner Fire Department.
Funeral services were Wednesday at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Dr. Bob Self and the Rev. Sherman Barnette officiating. Interment was in the Grenada Memorial Garden.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years Amy Methvin Clark; his daughter Brittany Clark Frazier and her husband Landon of Rosebloom; his father Wayne Clark of Grenada and a grandson Bryce Frazier.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ann Clark.

James Murray Dozier

James Murray Dozier, 69, of Grenada and Pleasant View, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.
He was a kind, wonderful, and loving husband and father.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Emory Dozier and Jennie Belle Harris Dozier; his brothers, Max Dozier and Connie Dozier.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Carol Dozier; their two children, Nickolas Dozier and Amy (Blake Lacy) Dozier; sisters-in-law, Betty Dozier, Spicey Dozier and Amy Young; brother-in-law, Wayne (Jean) Young; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews who were all very special to him.
Funeral services were Sunday, May 27, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Bro. Dan Dozier officiating.
Burial was in EverRest of Cheatham with Tim Farmer, Willie Hannah, Steve Dozier, Jay Rogers, Carl Cothren, and Austin Harris serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Geeslin Corner Volunteer Fire Department, L.C. Dozier, Bill Bennett, Patrick Crum, Bob Lindikens, and Tom Gillion.
The family wishes to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Brent Barker and Bro. J. Barry Worrell of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada, where Mr. Dozier was a member.

Janie Lee Smith

Ms. Smith, 83, died at her home on May 26, 2018. She was born on Jan. 9, 1935.
Ms. Smith is survived by four daughters, Lottie S. Pattterson, Nancy Blackburn, and Sandy Phillips, all of Oakland, and Lurine J. Mister of Batesville; four sons, Henry Smith Jr., Jerry Smith and Roderic Smith, all of Oakland, and Kenneth Smith of Kenosha, Wis.; three sisters, Pauline Smith of Oakland, Mildred Walters of Phoenix and Ella Bristow of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Elnora Williams

Funeral services for Elnora Williams of Grenada, formerly of Memphis, are Saturday at 3 p.m. at First Pleasant Grove M.B. Church. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Ms. Williams, 73, died of natural causes at Grenada Living Center on May 29, 2018. She was born on April 27, 1945. Ms. Williams enjoyed cooking for family and friends and spent many years housekeeping for several families in Memphis and Grenada.
Ms. Williams is survived by three daughters, Brenda Parker and Cathy Yates, both of Grenada, and Sandra Lewis of East St. Louis, Ill.
