Lelia Slocum Cook

Lelia Slocum Cook, 64, died Thursday, May 10, 2018, at her home in Scobey.
She was born on March 9, 1954, to the late Quida Pruitt of Grenada and George W. Slocum of Carrollton.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband of 39 years John Wesley Cook Jr. and four daughters, Tabitha Nix (Larry), of Pearl, Wendy Cook and Amanda Cook of Grenada and Jennifer Smith of Shreveport, La.; son Toby Lane Cook; sister Patricia (Pat) Pruitt of Grenada; 15 grandchildren and five great-grand- children; a host of nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her brother Ralph Donnald Greenlee of Carrollton and grandson Chandler Chase Parker.
Visitation is Monday, May 14, at Light House Church of God, Highway 7 North in Grenada from 5 to 7 p.m.

Geneva ‘Jenny’ Cox

Funeral services for Geneva M. “Jenny” Cox of Vaiden are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Vaiden Baptist Church with burial at Vaiden Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 9 a.m. until service time, at the church.
Mrs. Cox, 92, died at her home on Friday, May 11, 2018. She was born in Kansas on March 22, 1926. Mrs. Cox was retired from sales in retail ladies clothing, and she was a faithful member of Vaiden Baptist Church.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her husband James A. Cox of Vaiden; three daughters, Abigail Cox Kohler of Madisonville, La., Amy Sue Cox of Elkhart, Ind., and Lisa Cox Luckett of Greenville; one son Matthew Gamble Cox of Henderson, Nev.; one brother Jimmy Rapp of Texas; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by a daughter Julie Anne Cox and her parents, Donald Rapp and Edith Stone Elsten.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Elizabeth Harbin Smart

Mrs. Elizabeth Harbin Smart, 88, of Grenada passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018, at her residence.
She was born April 10, 1930, in Grenada to Mr. Buster and Mrs. Corrinne Carpenter Harbin. She was a retired assistant teacher for the Grenada County Public Schools. Mrs. Smart was the oldest living member of Hardy Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and Church Treasurer for 35 years.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 15, at 2 p.m. at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with the Rev.  James Melton officiating.
Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memorial Garden Cemetery in Grenada.
Survivors include her son Randy Smart (Marie) of Nesbit; her daughter Grace Womack (Jim) of Lake Cormorant; two grandsons, Caleb Smart (Sarah) and Josh Smart, and two great-grandchildren, Pike Edward Smart and Luca Dewayne Smart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Guy Smart; three brothers and a sister.
Pallbearers will be Randy Denley, Caleb Smart, Josh Smart, Mike Moss, Scott Moss and Rob Waldo. Honorary pallbearer will be Greg Smart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hardy Baptist Church.

Helen Doris Spall

Helen Doris Spall, 96, of Senatobia, formerly of Grenada, died May 10, 2018, at the Senatobia Healthcare and Rehab.
She was a member of First Baptist Church Senatobia.
Mrs. Spall is survived by her daughter Florrey Brownlee (Jerry) of Senatobia; granddaughter, Kimberly Brown (Jim) of Senatobia; great-grandsons, Ellis Brown (Lauren), Blake Brown and Austin Brown, and great-great-grandchildren, Keilan Reed Brown and Nash Elliott Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Spall; parents, B.L. and Addie Lou Nail, and brothers, Arthur Lee Nail, Doyle Nail and Bill Nail.
Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church Senatobia or Ebenezer Baptist Church in Senatobia.
A graveside service was held Saturday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada.
