Christopher Lee Parker

(Dec. 22, 1976 – Feb. 11, 2018) — Christopher Lee Parker, 41, of Grenada passed away at his residence Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018.
He was born in Winona on Dec. 22, 1976, and was the son of the late David C. Parker and the late Karen Lee Vaughn Clifton.
Mr. Parker was a former probation officer in Florida. He held Master’s degrees in Arts Psychology from the University of Memphis, Social Psychology from the University of Amsterdam, and Educational Technology from American Intercontinental University.
Mr. Parker is survived by his husband Richard Nail of Grenada; sister Angela Lavender; brothers David Clifton and Michael Bailey; grandmother Mary Vaughn; and aunts, Christy Mitchell, Martina Parker, and Linda Blaylock.
A memorial service for Mr. Parker will be held at a later date.

Danny Ray Thorpe

Mr. Danny Ray Thorpe, 69, of Brandon, formerly of Grenada, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018. at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
He was born Aug. 15, 1948. in Grenada to Jesse and Bobby Fay Lance Thorpe. Mr. Thorpe had worked for many years as a consultant for Affiliated Computer Services.  Danny was a former National Guard member, an avid sports fan and a Baptist.
A service to celebrate his life was held Saturday, Feb. 10, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with the Rev. Truman Scarborough officiating. Interment was in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Survivors include his daughter Tiffany Callum (Martin) of Hernando; one son Todd Thorpe (Amy) of Spring Hill, Tenn.; one sister Debbie Breland (Charlie) of Grenada; and five grandchildren, Anna Claire Callum, Avery Thorpe, Caden Callum, Mallory Thorpe and Cole Callum.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Terry Michael Thorpe.
Pallbearers were Corey Alexander, Scott Alexander, Tally Berry, Cham Herbert, Chase Herbert and Cullen Morgan.

Callie James Vance

Funeral services for Callie James Vance, 79, of Holcomb, were Saturday, Feb. 10, at Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Smith Cemetery at Rosebloom.
Mrs. Vance died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at her home.
She was born on June 21, 1938, in Lafayette County and was the daughter of the late George Calvin James and Mattie Davis James.
Callie was formerly employed by Irvin Industry as an assembly line worker. She was a member Holcomb Baptist Church and the Cancer Support Group of Grenada.
Mrs. Vance was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William Gilbert Vance; one sister Dulcie James Goodwin; and two brothers, Lyndon Reid James and George William James.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna Gentry (Kent) of Water Valley, Mary Hester (Jimmy) of Grenada, and Lottie Leigh Dill (Jacob) of Holcomb; one son William Calvin “Bud” Vance (Lovell) of Holcomb; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Holcomb Baptist Church in Holcomb.

Wanda Faye Ingram Welch

Funeral services for Wanda Faye Ingram Welch, 69, of Grenada, are at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery at Roseblooom.
Visitation is Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. at Mortimer National Funeral Home.
Mrs. Welch died Friday, Feb. 9, 2018. at the Northeast Florida Community Hospice Center in Jacksonville, Fla.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1948, in Charleston and was the daughter of the late Norby Merritt Ingram and Bonnie Jean Cole Ingram.
Wanda was an administrative assistant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Norby M. Ingram Jr. and one grandchild Trey Welch.
She is survived by a daughter Ava Welch of Grenada; two sons, Jerry D. Welch Jr. of Ponte Vedra, Fla., and Terry Lynn Welch of Grenada; one brother Daniel Ingram of Scobey; one sister, Bonnie Dale Maddox of Scobey; and two grandchildren, Gage and Olivia Welch.
