Hal Blanch Jr.

Funeral services for Hal Blanch Jr. are 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Greater Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Gore Springs.

Interment will follow in the Pleasant Gove Church Cemetery.

Mr. Blanch, 72, of Grenada, died Jan. 14, 2018. at the Spring Gate Health and Rehab Center in Memphis.

Mr. Blanch is survived by daughters, Jacquelyn Mister and Ena Mister Kelly, both of Coffeeville; sons Hal Blanch III, Aaron Blanch and Lee Russell Blanch, all of Grenada; Ron L Blanch of Woodbridge, Va.; Venda Mister of Coffeeville; sisters, Georgia Quinn of West Point; Christine Mister and Eloise Willis, both of Gore Springs; brother Jewel Blanch of Grenada.

Phillip Gary

Funeral services for Phillip Gary are 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Gibson Church of God in Eupora.

Interment will follow in the Robinson Chapel Church Cemetery.

Mr. Gary, 46, of Grenada, died Jan. 9, 2018, at the Merit Health Center in Jackson.

Sherry R. Goodson

Ms. Sherry R. Goodson, 73, of Grenada, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018.

She was born Jan. 1, 1945, in Calhoun County to Grady and Lois Goodson. Sherry retired from the Grenada County Chancery Clerk’s office where she worked for over 25 years.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Pleasant Hill Community of Calhoun County with Bro. Don Harrell officiating.

Family and friends will gather afterward in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. The cemetery is located at 82 County Road 341, Calhoun City, Miss.

Survivors include her son Donnie Sultan (Kayla) of Grenada; one sister Glenda Little (Wayne) of Calhoun City; one brother Evans Goodson (Maureen) of Grenada; four grandchildren, Jonathan Sultan (Lauren), Colby Sultan (Leslie), Taylor Sultan (Lexi) and Hailey Fancher; and two great-granddaughters, Charlee Grace and Joleigh Sultan.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Billie Jean McCormick

Mrs. Billie Jean Havens McCormick, 85, of Grenada, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at her son’s residence.

She was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Calhoun County to Jesse Lamar and Marie Parker Havens. She had worked for many years in the Grenada County area as a registered nurse and was a member of Elliott Baptist Church.

One of Mrs. McCormick’s greatest joys was found in traveling all over the world, where she made many wonderful memories.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Elliott Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Brinker officiating.

Interment will follow in the Elliott Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Survivors include three daughters, Lorie Blakely (Donnie) of Grenada, Lesa Yeats (Ray) of Nevada and Carol Breland of Grenada; two sons, David McCormick (Peggy) of Tennessee and Andrew McCormick (Vanetta) of Duck Hill; 12 grandchildren, Steven Blakely, Jessica Greer, Jeremy McCormick, Shana Lee, Daniel McCormick, Anita McCormick, Sandra Chaney, Savannah McCormick, Justin Breland, Brooks Breland, Candice Hays and Erin Rocha; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold McCormick and two grandsons, Jesse and Jason McCormick.

Jeffie Bolden Reeves

Funeral services for Jeffie Bolden Reeves are Saturday, Jan. 20, at Pine Grove East Missionary Baptist Church in Water Valley.

Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Reeves, 76, of Grenada, died on Jan. 15, 2018, at her residence.
