Grenadian killed in Starkville

A Grenada resident was shot and killed at the Starkville Walmart during the weekend.

Authorities identified the victim as Dr. Shauna Witt, 42, an optometrist who operated an office inside the store.

Saturday, a man the Starkville police identified as Tommy Chisholm, 41, of Kosciusko, was arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting.

The police said Witt and Chisholm had “an off and on relationship.”

Dr. Witt rented a house on Jackson Avenue from Dolly and Frank Marascalco for the past 11 years.
“This is a tragic thing to happen to a really good person,” Dolly Marascalco said. “She was very quiet and very easy to get along with.”

Marascalco said Witt worked as a traveling eye doctor and would stay with friends in the Starkville area when away from Grenada.
