A Grenada businessman is among three people arrested in connection with a Carroll County murder.

Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker identified the three as Richard Earl Brown, 59, of Grenada; Lakesha Dumes, 38 of Carrollton; and Dameond Brown, 21, of Carrollton, who were all arrested Friday.

According to Walker, Dameond Brown is charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting death of Dreifus Holmes, which occurred on April 30.

Walker said Richard Earl Brown and Dumes are both charged with accessory after the fact to capital murder.
“Carroll County sheriff’s deputies, Mississippi Bureau of Investigations agents, Grenada Police officers and the investigators with the District Attorney’s Office worked together in the arrests,” Walker said. “This incident affected a whole lot of people here.”

District Attorney Doug Evans called the events tragic.

“Right now, we can’t say much about the arrests and the details surrounding them,” Evans said. “This is just a bad situation.”
