After six months without an executive director, Gary Worsham has been hired as the new leader to take on the tourism.
Worsham, 66, was selected out of a job pool of three applicants for the position, and the Grenada Tourism Commission likes their selection.
“I think we made the right choice in hiring Gary as our new executive director,” Tourism Chairman Larry Harges said. “Our job is to put Grenada on the map when it comes to tourism, and that’s what we’re continually trying to accomplish.
Since finishing the LSU School of Banking nearly 35 years ago, Worsham made a career as one of Regions Bank’s top officials, overseeing nearly all of its Delta area banks by the time he retired in 2016.
However it’s Worsham’s experience in community service that caught the eye of the tourism commissioners.
“I’ve always been amazed at the assets here in Grenada, so I’m beyond excited about this position,” Worsham said.
“I’ve been talking with the commissioners, and they’re ready to get the ball rolling.”
Worsham served as a board member for the tourism commission for two years and was a two-time president for the Grenada Area Chamber of Commerce.
