It’s Grenada’s version of the Extreme Makeover, an initiative supported by local churches and other people of good will that brings together volunteers to help the less fortunate. This tradition continues on April 22.
This year’s Christmas in April has everything finalized, and according to committee member Kim McRee, crews and volunteers have been assigned to 15 homes in Grenada County.
The homes will receive renovation upgrades like painting, roof repairs and handicap accessible ramps.
McRee said house captains and their teams have already been assigned their locations, and the general volunteers will be sent out Saturday morning from the Coldwell Banker headquarters.
“We’re really blessed this year,” McRee said. “We started a little slow with the applications, but we ended with over 40 of them. We’re looking really good.”
McRee said this year’s homes are some of the toughest conditions the organization has seen in some time.
