Police Chief Grady Abel said the Duck Hill Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shooting call around 11:30 Friday night.
Abel said the shooting happened in a parking lot on Main Street.
When police arrived, a man Abel identified as Goldie Burt, 51, had been shot once.
“We pronounced him dead when we arrived,” Abel said. “We’re still trying to figure out just what caused this shooting.”
A man Abel identified as Jerry “Booker” Allen, 52, was also at the scene and was lying injured.
