Woman enters plea in son’s death

Staff Report

Cortina Ewing, the mother of three-year-old A’Marion Bounds, entered a guilty plea today in Grenada County Circuit Court in connection with the toddler’s death.
According to District Attorney Doug Evans, Ewing entered a plea of guilty to second degree murder in the death of Bounds “openly,” which means she will not be sentenced yet.
Ewing is expected to testify against Marqueze Collins, who is charged with murder and felony child abuse in the case. A court date for Collins has not been set.
Authorities have said the youngster died of blunt force trauma on Christmas Eve of 2014.
