A recent study has shown that kindergarten offers many advantages to young learners, and, among the top things a youngster learns is, simply, to show up every day. Stating the obvious — this helps for good school habits and good work habits as an adult.
It should come as no surprise that a report from the National Center for Children in Poverty found that children who missed more than 10% of school in kindergarten were the lowest achieving group in first grade, National Public Radio reported recently.
Woody Allen once said, “Ninety percent of life is just showing up,” but, unfortunately, school attendance at all grade levels is not emphasized enough by many parents.
Less than half of Mississippi’s 146 school districts have free pre-K programs. This, alone puts our kids behind most other states, attendance aside.
By the way, what is Mississippi doing with 146 school districts? What is Mississippi doing with eight public four-year universities?
Talk about inefficiency — we have less than three million residents. We are spreading our meager resources way to thin.
Last week President Obama vetoed the Keystone XL pipeline bill passed by Republicans in both houses of Congress.
The left wing press will probably label his move “obstructionism by the do-nothing Republicans.”
FBI in Portugal?
A couple of days ago I received an e-mail purporting to be from the FBI asking for all sorts of personal information.
The message also went into great detail explaining how genuine it was and how important it was for me to answer.
According to the internet extension “.pt.” The e-mail originated in Portugal.
Chances are the FBI is not outsourcing internet services to Portugal, would you not agree?
I wonder if this Portugal bunch could help me finally get the $4 million promised the other day by the heir to a Kenyan fortune who could not get her money our of the country without my help.
White House message
We know you are just some young people who are discouraged by the lack of good jobs and really want to do the right thing, but we are getting a lot of pressure around here.
Unfortunately, if we are to keep the Democrat party half-way believable and marginally credible, we must attack you — or at least talk about attacking you.
Because of this misled fervor from Republicans — and even a few Democrats — we are distressed to announce that we are compelled to attack you. We are looking at attacking Mosul sometime in April, if that is convenient with you.
We will be watching social media for your reply.
Signed: The White House
