Peggy Morehead Alford
   Funeral services for Peggy Morehead Alford, 54, of Grenada, are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Scotland Cemetery near Winona.  
   Visitation is Wednesday, from 9 a.m. until service time, at the funeral home.
   Mrs. Alford died Aug. 16, 2014 of  cancer at her residence.  
   She was born in Jackson, Miss., on June 26, 1960, to Kathryn Carter Morehead of Pearl and the late Thurman Clayton Morehead.  
   Mrs. Alford was a former independent contractor with the Grenada Star newspaper.  
   In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Morehead.
    In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Kathy Blair and Laura Pyron of Grenada; a son, Joseph Pyron of Grenada; three sisters, Judy Strickland of Pearl, Pandra Pyron of Grenada, and Sherry Kegley of Salem, Va.; brothers, Dan C. Morehead and Bobby Morehead of Canton; and one granddaughter, Kayla Greer of Grenada.

Peggy W. Henderson
   Funeral services for Peggy W. Henderson, 89, of Grenada, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, at the National Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery.
   Visitation was Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at National Funeral Home.
   Ms. Henderson died Aug. 14, 2014, at her home.
   She was born on Aug. 18, 1924, and was the daughter of the late John Vernon Pettit and Martha Ophelia Ferguson Pettit of  Attalla County.
   Ms. Henderson was a homemaker. She was a member of  Elliott Baptist Church. She was a charter member and the last surviving member of the Elliott Homemakers and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
   She is survived by three sisters, Joyce (Billy) Nail of Grenada, Beatrice Edwards of Carthage and Martha Janell Mullens of Laurel; one nephew, Rick Ciarloni and his wife Carol and their children Evan Ciarloni and Emily Duggar.

Norma Gray Turner Myers

   Norma Gray Turner Myers, 83, of Grenada, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, the seventeenth of August, 2014. She was a devout and faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Grenada and so enjoyed her fellowship with its members and Christian friends.
   Norma’s high school graduating class, dubbed the “49ers,” has held traditional yearly reunions and her attendance has always been one of her greatest joys.
   Norma was a bookkeeper for various C.P.A.’s and business entities in Grenada. Leisure activities enjoyed by Norma included homemaking and oil painting.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, Sebron Gray and Helen Haley Turner; her husband, Robert Carl Myers; brother, Haley Turner; sisters, Dorothy Biddy, Hazel Caldwell, Claudine Griffis, and Naomi Swetland; and Grandson Nathan Myers.
   Survivors include, sons Gary (Garner Jo) Myers of Holcomb and Jeff (Angela) Myers of Blue Springs, Miss.; grandson, Evan (Kerrie) Myers of Brandon; granddaughters, Lindsay (Erick)
Haugen of Desoto, Iowa, Carli Myers of Holcomb, and Audra Myers of Blue Springs; great-grandsons, Noah Haugen of Desoto, Iowa, and Cade Myers of Brandon; great-granddaughter, Lexie Myers of Brandon; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
   The family sends special thanks to the staff and the many good friends she made during her stay at Providence Assisted Living Center in Grenada, Dr. Mary-Anne Tarsi, Community Hospice, and the staff at Grenada Living Center for the care and concern given to her while there.
   A visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Garner-Harper Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m., immediately followed by funeral services in the Garner-Harper Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grenada.
   Memorials may be made to the donor’s charities of choice.

Opaline Buchanan Watson
   Opaline Buchanan Watson, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at her residence. She was born on May 17, 1928, in Itawamba County to the late Louis Buchanan and Hessie Umphress Buchanan. She was retired from the Irwin B. Schwabe Company where she worked as a quality control director. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grenada.
   Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 19, at United Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Jack Smith officiating. Burial will be in the New Albany City Cemetery.
   She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Jerol) Vaughn of Grenada; two grandchildren, Melanie (David) Balducci and Kristy (Rod) Marter; five great-grandchildren, Chloe Balducci, Cassidy Balducci, Gemma Balducci, Grason Marter, and Claire Marter; and a sister, Ethylene Privett of Grenada.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, David Morton Watson, and a brother, Johnnie Buchanan.
   Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 19, from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
