The Grenada City Council on Monday listened to concerns from numerous citizens about flooding and water damage from recent storms.
According to meteorologist Maxie Latrice with the National Weather Service in Jackson, the Lake City received 5.5 inches of rain in roughly a two-hour period on July 22.
The deluge wreaked havoc with local drainage structures and several Grenada residents took water in their homes and businesses.
“I appreciate that we had a tremendous amount of water in a short time, but it’s not in our best interest to tell people that we were simply overwhelmed,” said Ward Five Councilman the Rev. Timothy Chism.
