Insurance up for school district

Staff Writer

The cost of the Grenada School District’s liability insurance will go up nearly 10 percent next year, according to an expert.
Keith Bills, of Bills Insurance Agency, briefed the school board Tuesday on changes to its policy for the upcoming school year.
GSD Business Manager Rodney Murphy explained.
“Our premium for next year will be $186,244. This is an increase of approximately 9.9 percent by Keith’s calculations,” Murphy said.
“Driving the increase is an increase in the appraised values of our buildings along with changes in market conditions and coverage enhancements,”  Murphy told the board.
