Pulling for the Rebels in CWS

With Ole Miss’s convincing Monday night Super Regional win over the fierce and bearded Ragin’ Cajuns of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the Rebels advance to the College Baseball World Series at Omaha, Neb., for a shot at the College Baseball National Championship!
The whole slate of College World Series contestants, in the order that they first play, are: Saturday, June 14, University of California at Irvine versus Texas and Louisville versus Vanderbilt; Sunday, June 15, Texas Tech versus TCU and Virginia versus Ole Miss. Game time for the Rebels against Virginia is 7 p.m. on the evening of Fathers’ Day.
The Virginia Cavaliers had to beat its in-conference rival Maryland to punch their ticket to Omaha.  Against Louisiana-Lafayette, Ole Miss had to beat the highest scoring team with the best record in the country.
Ole Miss has not been to the College World Series since 1972. Virginia eliminated Ole Miss in the Super Regional game in 2009. The upcoming game should be a thriller!
The College World Series will be double elimination until down to the final two teams. Then the slate will be wiped clean, and it will be a best-of-three series for the national championship.
All eyes in the Magnolia State will be on Ole Miss just like last year when we were all pulling for Mississippi State.
The State of Texas seems to have the best shot with three Texas schools in the mix. The Southeastern Conference has two teams in the competition.
All of the eight teams in the College World Series are tough, though only Louiville was there last year.  Anything can happen.  Early on, a lot of people are picking the Rebels!
My nephew, Mallory Caldwell, who lives in Texas, graduated from Ole Miss and then from law school at Virginia. I do not know for sure, but I am figuring Mallory will be pulling for Ole Miss.
