Grenadians were part of an overall push Tuesday that helped challenger Chris McDaniel force incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran into a runoff for the Republican Senate primary.
The second primary vote is Tuesday, June 24.
In statewide voting, McDaniel, a state senator, led the ticket with 49.5 percent of the vote. Cochran got 49 percent, and a third candidate, Thomas Carey, got 1.5 percent of the vote.
McDaniel garnered 51.50 percent of the Grenada County votes, according to numbers supplied by Chancery Clerk Linda Barnette’s office.
