Lady Chargers swept in 6A playoff series

Madison Central has been a thorn in the side of the Grenada Lady Chargers for a number of seasons in fast pitch softball.
The Lady Jaguars have one of the top programs in the state on a yearly basis.
This week, they showed a squad that could be poised to make a run toward a state title. Grenada and Madison Central hooked up in a Class 6A First Round Playoff Series that began Tuesday at Madison. The Lady Jaguars won that game 10-0 and completed the sweep Wednesday at Grenada with a 10-1 win.
With the wins, Madison Central moves on to the North 6A Semifinals against DeSoto Central. Grenada finishes its season 9-10-1.
“Madison has the complete package,” Grenada Coach Leslie Lancaster said. “They can pitch it, defend it, and hit it. We have struggled for most of the season scoring runs and had problems in this series.”
In Wednesday’s contest, Grenada got on the board in the bottom of the first inning to take a short-lived 1-0 lead.
