Trooper Charles Lamb has been recognized by his peers as the outstanding Trooper of the Year.
Lamb, 34, received the award Thursday from members of the Grenada Exchange Club at the America’s Best Value Inn.
Lamb was chosen from among the 27 troopers of Troop D, based in Greenwood.
“This is very special because the award comes from my coworkers,” said Lamb, whose wife, Bevin and eight-month-old son, Creed, were on-hand to witness him receive the award.  Lamb has another son, Eason, age five.
Lamb grew up in Bolivar County and attended Bayou Academy. He then received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Delta State University.
