A Grenada resident and a local animal rescue organization are joining forces to try and catch a person who shot and killed a family pet.
According to Doll Stanley, director of Hope Animal Sanctuary in Duck Hill, someone shot a male, Great Pyrenees dog in the area of Moose Lodge Road.
An $800 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
The shooting took place sometime between March 10, when the dog went missing, and March 16 when the body was found.
The dog’s owner, Benji Hayward, playfully named the dog Killer because of its amiable and loving disposition.
“Reports of other animals senselessly shot in the community indicate there may be a resident or visitor to the community with a dislike of animals and likely a lust for killing,” said Stantley.
Anyone with information relating to the shooting of Killer or other animals in the community may call (662) 809-4483 or email Stanley at
