The staff at the Elizabeth Jones Library will hold a book sale and benefit to help make up the funding lost from city cutbacks this year.
The book sale is Monday, starting at 10 a.m., and director Crystal Osborne and her staff have a room full of books to sell.
“We have a ton of paperbacks as well as books on just about every subject you can think of,” said Osborne.
The library will lose $5,000 in city funding this year due to a tax settlement by the Mississippi Supreme Court.
The library’s purse will be lightened in order for the city to pay back a sizable refund to the owners of Dogwood Apartments for overcharges in property taxes.
The cutbacks will hit the library hard, Osborne said.
