Avery wins state powerlifting title

   Grenada High School senior and Memphis football signee Genard Avery continues to rack up awards.
   This time, however, the awards are in powerlifting.  He captured 242-pound division state title at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
   Avery won his weight class defeating Reggie Harris of NW Rankin to win title. He finished with a total weight of 1,535 pounds.
   He set new state marks in three categories. Avery had a 580 in the deadlift and a 605 in the squat. He finished with a 360 in the bench press.
   Jarvis Jackson was third in the 308-pound class. He had a 540 in the squat, 280 in the bench and 540 in the deadlift.
   Shareef White was fourth in the 220-pound class. He had a 530 in the squat, a 320 in the bench, and 580 in the deadlift.
   James Carver was fifth in the 132-pound class. He had a 370 in the squat, a 210 in the bench, and a 430 in the deadlift.
