Two men are dead as the result of what sheriff’s deputies are investigating as a murder-suicide last week in Duck Hill.
One man apparently shot another at a local gas station, then drove home and took his own life.
According to Investigator Rob Banks with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, a man he identified as Melvin Mitchell Henry, 54, was found dead in his vehicle when deputies arrived shortly before 4 p.m. at the Conoco gas station on the Duck Hill exit off Interstate 55.
Henry had been shot once in the head, and he was sitting up in the front, passenger’s seat, according to Banks.
Witnesses also said they saw the shooter, identified by Banks as Terry Wayne Lott, 57, of Duck Hill.
Witnesses said that Lott shot Henry, then fled in a black car headed toward Duck Hill, according to Banks.
