Wreck kills teen

A Jackson teen was killed and another woman was flown to Memphis after an accident Monday on Interstate 55.
According to Officer Jeff Wilson with the Grenada Police Department, a woman he identified as Carlie Nichols, 17, was killed after her car flipped several times while she was traveling north.
The accident happened between the 204 and 205 mile markers, Wilson said.
“Nichols apparently lost control of the vehicle,” said Wilson, who also serves as the K-9 officer for GPD.
GPD works all wrecks on I-55 that occur within the city limits, Wilson said. He happened to be in the vicinity when the call went out.
Grenada County Coroner Eddie “Skeeter Robinson” pronounced Nichols dead on the scene, according to police.
A second female, Victoria Price, who was a passenger in Nichols’s car, was flown to a Memphis hospital, Wilson said.
No further information was available as to Price’s age or condition. She is also from the Jackson area, Wilson said.
“Both women were wearing their seat belts,” Wilson said.
