Churches work together to serve meals Thursday

Some Grenada churches are working together to feed shut-ins and those in need on Thanksgiving.
According to District Four Supervisor Darrell Robinson, most of the churches within the city limits are participating in this year’s feeding, and they’re happy to serve anybody.
The feeding will be from 10 a.m. until noon. Folks may pick up plates to go, or they may sit down and eat with other folks at New Life Christian Fellowship (formerly the First Baptist Church on Line Street).
Those needing deliveries may also call (662) 809-8724, or (662) 458-1234, or most city churches.
Most the deliveries will be within the city limits, Robinson said, but if circumstances provide, volunteers may go out to places like Elliott, Holcomb and Geeslin Corner.
“This is a combined effort on behalf of people of faith throughout the community,” said Robinson.”
Last year, churches combined to serve 680 meals, Robinson said.
Western Sizzlin’ will provide some of the meals this year, Robinson said, along with goodies from local volunteers’ kitchens.
