No foul play in death of Grenada fisherman

Staff Writer

Law enforcement officials on Wednesday identified a body found in a creek near Wildlife League Road and designated a cause of death.
According to Sheriff Alton Strider, the deceased was a man he identified as Eugene Robinson, 60, of Grenada. Preliminary autopsy reports showed that Robinson died of an aneurysm, Strider said.
A fisherman discovered Robinson’s body and called 911 shortly before 2 p.m. on April 13. Sheriff’s deputies and personnel from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation worked the scene. Grenada County Coroner Eddie Robinson pronounced Robinson dead.
According to family sources, Robinson worked for Wonder Bread and was also self-employed. He was pastor of Mt. Vernon Church and served as a member of the board at Grenada Lake Medical Center for more than 20 years.
Family sources said Robinson died while fishing, his favorite pastime.
Funeral services for Robinson will be at noon tomorrow at Washington Street Church of Christ.
