Chancery Court Judge Mitchell Lundy Jr. was airlifted from Grenada Lake after a boating accident Friday afternoon.
Details were sketchy, but according to Sheriff Alton Strider, Lundy suffered severe trauma to a leg after he was ejected from and then run over by his boat.  A source close to the Lundy family said part of one of the judge’s feet was amputated, and he was expected to have surgery Saturday morning.
“He was fishing,” said Strider. “The fishermen around him didn’t see anything.”
The accident happened near Choctaw Landing, which is near the south-central part of the lake.
Strider could not say whether anyone was in the boat with Lundy when the accident happened. Family sources said Lundy was airlifted to the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Lundy is a chancery judge for Mississippi District 3 and also serves as municipal judge for Grenada.
