Irene B. Myers
GREENWOOD – Irene Bentley Myers, 67, of Sidon, a native of Butler County, Ala., died Thursday at Greenwood-Leflore Hospital.
Mrs. Myers was a homemaker and employee of Wal-Mart. She was a member of Centerville Baptist Church.
Mrs. Myers was a graduate of Jones Business School in Chicago, Ill. and attended Bible College in Phoenix, Ark.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Williams & Lord Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Maxwell Price and Billy Blakely officiating. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by her husband, David K. Myers; a son, Joe Dunn; a sister, Ann Gadoury; and a granddaughter, Ginger Mims.
She is survived by four daughters, Beverly Mendez of Greenwood, Susan Gibb of Sidon, Sheila Mitchell of McCarley and Rebecca Myers of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, John B. Bentley of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Gloria Bentley of Villa Park, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Allen Myers, Clayton Myers, Chris Goss, Chris Robinson, Greg Mendez, Chris Brady, Shane Ratliff and Roy Alan Myers. Honorary pallbearers will be O’Neal Kennedy, John B. Bentley and Walter Ellis.
Williams & Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Sophia ‘Dude’ Thompson, 99, of Grenada, died Wednesday at Grenada Lake Medical Center.
Mrs. Thompson was a housekeeper. She was a member of Greater Powell Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Greater Powell Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. A.R. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Sweethome African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Collins of Chicago, Ill.

Jerry Weir, 50, of Grenada, died March 4 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Weir was employed with Bob Webb Co. , was a former employee of the City of Grenada as a fire fighter and Animal Control officer. He was also worked at the Pentagon for a Commercial Transfer System Co.
Mr. Weir was a member of the First New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 12 p.m. Saturday at the First New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur R. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Weir was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Blanche Harper Weir.
He is survived by three sons, Marquis Weir of Memphis, Tenn., Toddrick Weir and Aaron Brent Weir, both of Ypsilanti, Mich.; two brothers, Charles Weir of Fairfax, Va. and Gerry Brent Weir of Ft. Washington, Md.; four sisters, Dorothy Williams of Calumet City, Ill., Brenda Harris of Euless, Texas, Sharon Donahue of North Miami, Fla. and Yolanda Weir of Temple Hills, Md.; and three grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Weir, Toddrick James Weir and Brianna Renae Weir.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Cook, Carl Conley, Keith Smith, Sammy Shack, Frederick Willis and Roosevelt Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be Marquis Weir, Toddrick Weir, Aaron Weir, Charles Weir, Gerry Weir and Garrett Weir.
