Charlie B. Allbritton
COLUMBUS – Charlie Byars Allbritton, 68, of Steen, a native of Tallahatchie County, died Tuesday at his residence.
Mr. Allbritton was a retired metal machine shearer at Ceco after 18 years o service. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Caledonia.
The funeral was at 2 p.m. today at First United Pentecostal Church with Bros. Grant Mitchell, Steve Blaylock and Cary Arwood officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in New Hope.
Mr. Allbritton is survived by his wife, Dorothy Allbritton of Steens; two sons, Charlie Joe Allbritton of Bullard, Texas and Brian Allbritton of Columbus; two daughters, Debra Allbritton of Dallas, Texas and Phyllis Brownlee of Columbus; a brother, Arthur Allbritton of Cascilla; three sisters, Maebell Scallion, Ruby Scallion, both of Grenada and Sadie Ross of Scobey; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Doug Cain, Hurley Sims, Bob Ricks, Jerry Marshall, Cary Arwood, David Knight, John Holliman and Wayne Allbritton.
Memorials may be sent to the First United Pentecostal Church of Caledonia Building Fund.
Lowndes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Douglas E. Herring
Douglas Eugene ‘Doug’ Herring, 31, of Grenada, died Tuesday at his residence.
Mr. Herring was manager of Pizza Hut. He attended Calvary Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at National Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Windham and Dr. Clarence Cooper officiating. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery in Calhoun County.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Herring is survived by two daughters, Christie Herring and Amber Herring, both of Grenada; his parents, Rick Herring and Pat Herring of Grenada; and a grandmother, Thelma Herring of Grenada.
National Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Katie Suggs, 92, of Enid, a native of Yalobusha County, died Friday at her residence.
Mrs. Suggs was a homemaker. She was also a Baptist.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Parrish Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Grady McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Parrish Grove Cemetery.
