Alan Collins

Alan Collins, 53, of Duck Hill, died today at Winona Manor.

The funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Garner-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert S. Edwards

Robert S. ‘High Pockets’ Edwards, 66, of Grenada, died Monday at his residence.

Mr. Edwards was a truck driver for Milan Express. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Garner-Harper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bennie Vance officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Betty Langford Edwards of Grenada; two sons, Rob Edwards and Terry Edwards, both of Grenada; a daughter, Sherrie E. Greer of Grenada; two brothers, Davis Edwards of Calhoun City and Melvin Edwards of Pineville, La.; two sisters, Dorothy J. Edwards of Dallas, Texas and Maggie Jo Magness of Batesville; and three grandchildren, Jennah Greer, Justin Greer and Nicole Edwards, all of Grenada.

Garner-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joe T. Fite

BATESVILLE – Joe T. ‘Nookie’ Fite, 80, died Monday at South Panola Community Hospital.

Mr. Fite was a retired employee of Corp of Engineers at Enid Lake for 40 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was chairman of the deacons and Sunday school superintendent.

Mr. Fite was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the Batesville Civitan Club where he was president from 1981 to 1982 and was awarded the Appreciation Award 1999, the Special Recognition Award and the Civitan of the Year Award 1997.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Alan Kilgore, Joe B. Hartley and Dr. Robert Self officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Fite is survived by his wife, Bessie Mae Smith Fite of Batesville; two daughters, Joe Ann F. Blackwell of Birmingham, Ala. and Suzie F. Johnson of Greenville; two sisters, Eunice F. Sanders o Batesville and Florence F. Harrison of Gretna, La.; and three grandchildren. Brian Blackwell, Joanna Blackwell, both of Birmingham, Ala. and Erika Thomas of Greenville.

Wells Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
