William C. Clark

BATESVILLE – William C. Clark, 57, of Courtland, died Tuesday at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Mr. Clark was a farmer and member of the National Guard. He was also a member of Sardis Lake Baptist Church.

The funeral was at 2:30 p.m. today at Sardis Lake Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Crofford officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Clark of Courtland; two daughters, Lisa C. Keeton and Carol C. Baker, both of Courtland; two sisters, Sarah C. David of Grenada and Betty C. Brown of Batesville; five grandsons, Michael A. Keeton Jr., Justin H. Keeton, Jason P. Baker Jr., Jason M. Baker and Jon-Clark Baker.

Wells Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Freeda C. French

WATER VALLEY – Freeda Coker French, 92, of Coffeeville, died Tuesday at Grenada Health & Rehab Center.

Mrs. French was a retired cafeteria manager for Coffeeville City Schools. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church with Bro. Truman Scarbrough officiating. Burial will be in Coffeeville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. French is survived by two sons, Kenneth French of Houston, Texas and David French of Great Falls, Mont.; three daughters, Jo Anne Eynon of Ashburn, Va., Kay Rodick and Kathryn French, both of Coffeeville; a brother, Koma Coker of Southaven; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Browning Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wofford C. Nail

WINONA – Wofford Crick Nail, 77, of Kilmichael, died Monday at his residence.

Mr. Nail was a catfish farmer and a retired owner of Nail’s Propane Co. He was a deacon, a treasurer and member of Poplar Creek Nations Baptist Church for 40 years.

Mr. Nail was also a United States World War II Army veteran.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. today at Poplar Creek Nations Baptist Church with the Revs. Dale Strickland and Jimmy Latham officiating. Burial was in Poplar Creek Nation Cemetery.

Mr. Nail was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie May Love Nail.

He is survived by his wife, Maidee Ray Nail of Kilmichael; three sons, James H. Nail of Yazoo City, Rexey C. Nail and Rickey L. Nail, both of Kilmichael; five daughters, Mildred D. Jones, Vickie H. Pearson, Elsie R. Holifield, all of Kilmichael, Linda K. Boyd of Blountville, Tenn. and Wanda J. Powell of Hickory, N.C.; two brothers, Colon Nail of Stewart and Estelle Nail of Madison; and a sister, Hazel Murry of Kosciusko; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Laura A. Wells

WINONA – Laura Anne Wells, 68, died Tuesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson.

Mrs. Wells was a homemaker. She was a member of North Winona Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John L. Walker officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wells is survived by her husband, William Calvin Wells of Winona; a son, William C. Wells II of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Kathleen Veasey of Grenada and Linda Sue Willis of Jackson; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.
