CALHOUN CITY – Charles Barnett, 68, of Vardaman, died Tuesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.
Mr. Barnett was a retired employee of Kellwood after 44 years of service. He was a member of Taylor Church of God.
The funeral was at 2 p.m. today at New Liberty Baptist Church with the Revs. Pete Gregor and Raymond Pruitt officiating. Burial was in New Liberty Cemetery.
Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his parents, Edd Barrett and Ellma Mathis Barnett.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Vanlandingham Barnett of Vardaman; three daughters, Charlotte Hill of Vardaman, Donna Longest of Bruce and Judy Barnett of Okolona; three brothers, William Barnett of Vardaman, J.B. Barnett o Calhoun City and Johnny Barnett of Drew; two sisters, Mildred Murphree of Vardaman and Frances Weeks of Bruce; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Steve Long, Rubie Parker, Gene Langford, Jerry Ellison, Bobby Thornton, Marty Griffin, James Guest and Howard Morgan. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Nix and R.L. Mitchell.
Pryor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Claude G. Cox
WINONA – Claude G. Cox, 100, of Vaiden, died Wednesday at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona.
Mr. Cox was a farmer and school bus driver. He was Elder and member of Shongalo Presbyterian Church.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Shongalo Presbyterian Church in Vaiden with the Revs. Toby Yelverton and Larry Cox officiating. Burial will be in Vaiden Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Cox is survived by a son, Roscoe Wilson Cox of Vaiden.

Rachel A. King
WINONA – Rachel Alice King, 88, of Vaiden, died Tuesday at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona.
Mrs. King was a homemaker. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Carrollton.
The funeral was at 10 a.m. today at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Doug Warren and Victor Taylor officiating. Burial was in Michie Cemetery near Vaiden.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by a son, Curtis A. King; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Carter.
She is survived by her husband, William Monroe King of Vaiden; three sons, Ronald King of Vaiden, Bill Leamond of Pearl and Frank Leamond of Vaiden; three daughters, Mary Luther of Crenshaw, Ernestine Holt of Pearl and Ann Blaylock of Vaiden; 12 grandchildren; 30 grandchildren; and 18 great great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Harold King, Mike Oliver, Billy King, Tommy Noah, Wayne Henson and Junior Cuomo.
