Calvin Lee Burt

CHARLESTON – Calvin Lee Burt, age 42, died Thursday, July 27 at his home.

Mr. Burt worked in Auto Repair on Body Work.

Services will be held Friday, July 28 at 2 p.m. at Newsom Funeral Home in Charleston. Burial will be in Strider-Burt Cemetery in Cascilla.

Mr. Burt is survived by a daughter – Candice Burt of Charleston; a son – Travis Burt of Charleston; three sisters – Anette Long of Grenada, Barbara Morgan of Charleston, Mary Jean Walker of Marks; and one brother – S. M. Burt of Charleston.

Newsom Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Lorene Conley

GORE SPRINGS – Lorene Conley, age 77, died Saturday, July 22 at Grenada Lake Medical Center.

Services will be held Saturday, July 29 at 11 a.m. at Little Rock M.B. Church with Rev. H. L. Collins officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Conley is survived by two sons – Roosevelt Conley and Pilgrom Conley both of Grenada and six daughters – Fannie L. Gordon of Grenada, Alice t. Green of St. Louis, MO, Hattie Mae Conley of St. Louis, MO, Gloria Jean Dorsey of Grenada, Betty Jean Conley of St. Louis, MO, and Willie Mae McMillian Bailey of St. Louis, MO.

Phillip Edwin Jacks

KILMICHAEL – Phillip Edwin Jacks, age 59, died Thursday, July 27 at Kilmichael Hospital.

Mr. Jacks was the president of Managed Health Care Services in North Richland Hills, Texas. He was a graduate of Greenville High School and Mississippi State University.

Services will be held Friday, July 28 at 3 p.m. at Kilmichael Baptist Church. Burial will be in Nations Poplar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Kilmichael.

Mr. Jacks is survived by his wife – Ruth Beverly Jacks of Kilmichael, a son – John Hoskins Jacks of Florence; his mother – Sue Hoskins of Kilmichael; and three grandchildren – Austin Jacks, Cassidy Jacks, and Tanner Jacks all of Florence. He was preceded in death by his father, Irwin Jacks.

Mattie Jolliff

MEMPHIS, TN – Mattie Jolliff, age 92, died Sunday, July 23 in Memphis, TN.

Ms. Jolliff was a retired cook for Grenada Public Schools.

Services will be held Monday, July 31 at 3 p.m. at NH. Herman AME Church with Rev. Leola Topps. Burial will be in Haven Rest Cemetery.

Michael Latham

MILWAUKEE, WI – Michael Latham, age 34, died Sunday, July 23 in Milwaukee, WI.

Mr. Latham was a factory worker at Ritus Rubber Co.

Services will be held Friday, July 28 at 3 p.m. at Sweethome A.M.E. with Rev. J. D. Willis officiating. Burial will be in Sweethome Cemetery.

Joe A. Martin

COFFEEVILLE – Joe A. Martin, age 55, died Friday, July 28 at Greenwood-Leflore Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Garner-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Henry Lewis McNeal

BELLWOOD, IL – Henry Lewis McNeal, age 54, died Saturday, July 22.

Mr. McNeal was a member of Rock of Ages M.B. Church in Maywood, IL.

Services will be held Saturday, July 29 at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church with Rev. L. C. Smith and Rev. Jeffery Williams officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.

Mr. McNeal is survived by two sons – Henry Robert of Maywood, IL and Michael Lewis McNeal of Georgia; four daughters – Tashawn McNeal of Georgia, Sharon Bass of New York, Omekia Slater of Grenada, and Sharon McGee of Maywood, IL; two brothers – Eddie McNeal of Holcomb and Col. Larry McNeal of Maryland; and six sisters – Evmar Togin of Holcomb, Frances Adams of Holcomb, Freddie Johnson of Bellwood, IL, Margaret Thompson of Maryland, Dorothy Plane of Bellwood, IL., and Brenda Curry of New York.

Charles Miller

COFFEEVILLE – Charles Miller, age 42, died Tuesday, July 18 at Grenada Lake Medical Center.

Mr. Miller was a nurse’s aid at Pathoon Nursing Home.

Graveside services were held Thursday, July 27 at 1 p.m. at Coffeeville City Cemetery with Rev. G. Wilson officiating.

Eddie Robison & Son Funeral Directors were in charge of the arrangements.

Walter Connelly

Walter Connelly died Friday, July 28 at Baptist Hospital North Mississippi. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. National Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
