Julia M. Norman
HOUSTON – Julia M. Boatner Norman, age 84, died Friday, July 21 at Floy Dyer Manor.
Mrs. Norman was a homemaker and a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.
Services were held Sunday, July 23 at 2 p.m. at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dwight Brown and Rev. Jim Vance officiating. Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Big Creek.
Mrs. Norman was preceded in death by her husband – Curtis Norman; her parents – John Book Boatner and Maude Robertson Boatner; a son – Bobby Joe Norman; 5 sisters and 1 brother. She is survived by a daughter Peggy Norman of Big Creek; three sons – Charles Dan Norman, Malcolm Norman and Barney Norman all of Big Creek; a sister – Cora Mae Blaylock; two brothers – J. B. Boatner of Memphis, TN and James Lee Boatner of Terry; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers were Mike Norman, Scott Norman, Dean Brummett, Jay Norman, Johnny Holder, Mike Gammill, Larry Burgess, and Chad Pease
Pryor Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Sammie Vance, age 75, of Metarie Road in Jackson died Monday, July 17 at her home.
Ms. Vance was a retired supervisor for Mississippi Industries for the Blind after 41 years. She was a native of Montgomery County. She has lived in Jackson for 45 years. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Services were held Wednesday, July 19 at 11 a.m. at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home. Burial was in Eskridge Baptist Church Cemetery near Duck Hill at 2 p.m.
Ms. Vance is survived by a sister – Odene Vance of Duck Hill; two brothers – Conway Mitchell of Greenwood and Sidney Mitchell of Grenada; a half-brother – Travis Mitchell of Winona; and four stepbrothers – George Parrish of Natchez, Clinton Parrish of Columbus, James Parrish of Illinois and Glynn Parrish of Ohio.
Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
