William D. Denley

William Durwood Denley, 67, of Lexington, Tenn., died Friday at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Mr. Denley was a retired college teacher. He was a third degree Mason and a graduate of the University of Mississippi and a member of the Lions Club.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Broome Cemetery in Coffeeville.

Mr. Denley is survived by his wife, Donna Denley of Lexington, Tenn.; two sons, Gary Denley and Randy Denley, both of Lexington, Tenn.; a daughter, Ellen Bingham of Reagan, Tenn.; three sisters, Shirley Jones of Gulfport, Dottie Lancaster of Coffeeville and Emma Redwine of Byhalia; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Myrtle Frey

Myrtle Frey, of Holcomb, died today at Grenada Lake Medical Center.

The funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Wade S. Garner

Dr. Wade Stokes Garner, 68, of Foley, Ala., died Friday at his residence.

Dr. Garner was a retired physician, he operated a private practice in internal medicine in Memphis, Tenn. He was a graduate of Grenada High School, the University of Mississippi and the University of Mississippi Medical School.

Dr. Garner worked as a staff physician at Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. and Alexandria, La. He was also a United States Army veteran.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada with Father Greg Proctor officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Dr. Garner was preceded in death by his parents, George M. Garner Sr. and Ruth Stokes Garner.

He is survived by a son, W. Stokes Garner Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Rebecca R. Howell of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, George M. Garner Jr. of Grenada; and a grandchild, Garner C. Howell of Memphis, Tenn.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Samuel D. Givhan

PONTOTOC – Samuel D. Givhan, 94, died Saturday at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Mr. Givhan was a retired farmer and mechanic. He was a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church where he was a steward and trustee and Garfield Mason Lodge No. 6 where he was past treasurer.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery.

Mr. Givhan was the widower of Kattie Mate Givhan.

He is survived by five sons, Cecil Ray Givhan, Rev. William Givhan, John Givhan, all of Pontotoc, Samuel Givhan Jr. of Columbus and Palmer Givhan of Holly Springs; five daughters, Floye W. Simmons, Annie V. Laffoon, both of Gary, Ind., Delores LaGrone of Tupelo, Rev. Cora Givhan-Ford of Grenada and Hazel McBride of Pontotoc; two sisters, Annie R. Ward of Beloit, Wis. and Que Belle Owns of Earle, Ark.; 40 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

Robert D. McGregor

GREENWOOD – Robert Dowe McGregor, 78, of McCarley, died Sunday at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona.

Mr. McGregor was a retired radio station owner and manager in Baton Rouge, La. and Pascagoula. He was a graduate of J.Z. George High School and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and the Navy Reserve.

Mr. McGregor attended Broadcast Electrical Engineer School in Minneapolis, Minn. And worked broadcasting in Louisiana, Colorado, Mississippi, George and Minnesota. He was a member of McCarley Baptist Church and charter member and founder of the National Rifle Association.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McCarley Baptist Church with the Revs. Clyde Schiele and Norris Corley officiating. Burial will be in Enon Methodist Church Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. McGregor was preceded in death by a brother, James K. ‘Red’ McGregor; and a sister, Rachel M. Howard.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Courtney McGregor of McCarley; a son, Michael Martin of Denham Springs, La.; a daughter, Patricia Forde of McCarley; a sister, Agnes McArthur of Jackson; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles McCorkle, Joe Serio, Curtis Forde, Ray Bankston, Randy Bankston, and Farrant Courtney.

Cindy M. Rushing

Cindy Melton Rushing, 34, of Grenada, died Sunday at Grenada Lake Campgrounds.

Ms Rushing was a homemaker.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Garner-Harper Funeral Home Chapel with Bros. Berly Darnell and Bobby Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Holcomb.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms Rushing is survived by two sons, Blake Melton Rushing and Miles Jacob Flynn, both of Holcomb; her parents, James William Melton Jr. and Ruby Denley Melton of Holcomb; two sisters, Arlene Melton Brooks of Pope and Terry Melton Schaefer of Eupora; two nieces, Laci A. Brooks and Casi N. Brooks; and a companion, Miles Flynn of Holcomb.
