It’s not a raise but a reinstatement to the salary Grenada previously paid its city manager.
That’s the explanation from Interim City Manager Charles “Jo Jo” Weathers on the heels of a vote by the Grenada City Council to increase his pay $10,000.
The council met in executive session Monday with two members absent and voted four to one to increase Weather’s pay to $90,000 per year.
“I feel I deserve it, but I am also very sensitive to the fact that other city employees haven’t had a raise in some time,” Weathers said Tuesday, referring to the fact that Grenada’s more than 200 city employees have gone without an annual increase since 2005.
