A produce truck that overturned just north of Grenada interrupted interstate traffic throughout much of Wednesday.
According to Sgt. Rolando Fair with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, driver Reginald Franklin with Great Wide Transportation of Dallas was headed south on I-55 at approximately 4:30 a.m. when his International truck blew a tire and rolled over.
Franklin, whom Fair said was from Memphis, was not badly injured but was transported to Grenada Lake Medical Center and later released.
According to Fair, southbound traffic was funneled into one lane for about 1/4 of a mile for most of the day.
Shortly after 3 p.m. the Highway Patrol shut down the interstate for about 25 minutes, Fair said, diverting traffic onto Hwy. 51, while crews unloaded the overturned produce by hand and stacked it into another truck.
Full traffic flow was restored around 4:15 p.m., Fair said.
